On Grammer

Mom was going on and on about how sweet Morgan is sometimes . Which got me thinking about Twix--they're soooo sweet. And, of course, one Twix is never enough, so I said, "mom, get me some Twixeses." But now I'm not sure that was proper grammar. Is it Twixeses, Twixes, or Twixi? Someone help me out here.

Dear Tatanka,
I must commend you on your desire to use proper grammar. It is an admirable trait not often seen in dogs today. Since Twix ends in the letter x, proper English denotes one adds es to form the plural. Of course, you could also ask your mom to get you some Twix bars. However, I must warn you that when speaking to your mom directly, you must captialize her name, as in, "Mom, get me some Twixes." The reason for this is you are using the word mom as her name. Good luck in your quest for Twixes and proper grammar.
As ever,
Grandma

Wow Grandma, Thanks- You're really smart. I had no idea you knew so much. I mean, you're still not as smart as Grandpa. He knows all about Rush and Bill and all the other great American Academics. But still, it sounds like you know how to spell. I have trouble with that once in a while so it's good to know I have a reference to turn to.

One of the best meals I've ever had involved eating four packs of Twixes.

Hey T!
It's good that you are able to put your daily life into proper perspective, that is, sorting out trivia and things that are irrelevant from matters that are truly worthy of your time and talents. I am pleased that you want to use proper grammar, but I am even more gratified that you are able to recognize the greater importance of being on board with the likes of Rush and Bill.
Love,
Grandpa
